My experience

Prior to becoming a teacher through the Graduate Teacher Programme, I spent several years working in the Financial Sector as a Pensions Consultant whilst studying for my Actuarial qualifications. Working for blue chip consulting firms has instilled in me the importance of setting high targets and goals. Therefore, within the classroom setting my experience defines my character in terms of expectation and behaviour for learning.

Since joining the teaching profession in 2013 I’ve had the opportunity to experience several different roles including acting Head of Mathematics, Director of Learning and Director of Aspirations. I have a wide breath of experience from implementing effective strategies for transition from KS2 into KS3 to planning and organising career events to raise aspirations.

I am passionate about teaching Maths. I enjoy learning from and sharing with colleagues.

Come and see me

  • Teach Maths at St Michael’s Catholic College and observe
  • A calm learning focused classroom
  • Effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Range of behaviour management strategies
  • Well planned and structured lessons to promote thinking and independent learning
  • Essential “just in time scaffolding” rather than “just in case scaffolding”.

I can offer professional development on:

  • Mathematical knowledge for the smooth transition from KS2 to KS3
  • Key intervention strategies in KS3
  • Raising attainment through establishing links with careers in STEM
  • Behaviour management strategies

I can support teachers/leaders with:

  • Exploring various methods to building a strong learner focused team
  • Develop a range of behaviour management techniques
  • One to one support for NQT’s or maths colleagues to develop their teaching and learning.
  • Establishing collaborative learning between math colleagues at St Michael’s Catholic College and other Primary or Secondary schools. Enabling open dialogue for sharing good practice and the T&L of Mathematics.
