My experience

I have been teaching and leading in early years for 15 years. I am a Southwark Early Years Champion which means I work with teachers to develop their practice and confidence in teaching in child-initiated environments, supporting them to find ‘teachable moments’.

‍

I am currently engaging in a project which is looking at the importance of eradicating gender stereotypes in the early years.

• Developing quality early years practice
• The environment and resourcing for early year settings (less is more)
• Supporting staff to understand the ‘in the moment’ style of observation and recording
• Supporting SEND staff in working with two-year-olds with additional needs

• The development of quality interactions with children
• Understanding the EYFS and how it translates into learning through play
• Considering the importance of equality in early years settings
• Supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, both with and without a formal diagnosis
